Today's Class 9/02/2009

Today, Mrs. Saatkmap started the class by giving the quizzes back. All the questions in the first page were worth 1 point except for #10 which was worth 3 points. Most of the people got number 10 wrong so Mrs. Saatkamp explained it on the board. We were asked to find the width of the river so we use simliar triangles to get the answer. The big triangle is similar to the small one therefore we can make a conclude that





Questions 3, 4 and 5 WERE covered during class. In questions number #, we were asked to find the scale factor from ABCD to EFGH

and not the other way around 12/8, because the question asked for the scale factor of ABCD to EFGH


Another question people had trouble with, was question #5 in the second page which was about finding the measurements of some sides of the parallelogram again, by using similar triangles




so x= 4

Some other problems were in question 5 in the second page where you had to use the answers from number 4. In question number 5 but from the same page you just had to solve the given and find that x=5.


After we finished correcting some questions, Mrs. Saatkamp started talking about the 2 projects we are having this quarter, both of them are going to be small projects. Today, we started working on the first one which is about measuring the classroom and making a model in geogebra following a scale factor. On past years, the model had to be drawn in paper but this year we have to do it geogebra.We first got in groups of 4 people, hopefully you remember who is in your group, and then we started measuring the classroom, will have tomorrow´s class to finich measuring and then the rest has to be done outside class. Remember that the doors and windows have to be measure from frame to frame and we also have to measure the file, the cabinet, two desks, the board, the three shelfs and all the desks..and no you dont have to measure every single desk..one is enough to know the measurement of the rest. The due date for this project is february 20th, the friday before carnival..so make sure that the person responsible to give in the project of your group os going to be here on that friday,there are no excuses.
