Class 19/05/09 - Congurent & Similar Solids

Well, today we started class setting dates for future assesments:

  • Quiz friday the 22
  • Tessiliation project due on monday the 25
  • And the test will only occur after hands on fair

After, we corrected our previous homework.

Then we continued with the new lesson:

Similar and Congruent Solids

Congruent solids are two solids in which:

  • All corresponding angles are congruent
  • All corresponding measurements (edges, apothems, heights...) are congruent
  • Area of correspondig faces are congruent
  • Volumes are congruent

Similar solids are two solids in which:

  • All angles are congruent
  • All corresponding measurements (edges, apothems, heights...) are proportional
  • Area of corresponding faces are proportional
  • Volumes are proportional

When Identifying if two solids are actually congruent, you must compare at least two measurements in order to see if they are proportional:

All measurements should give the same ratio:

All areas should give the same ration:

The volume should be:

And that is all the new subject! The HW is: page 633 # 14-28 all
